By all indications, Colorado’s Spencer Dinwiddie is a young man with great perspective and character.
Just days after suffering a season-ending ACL tear, the junior guard was not camera shy prior to tip-off of the CU game against UCLA on Thursday night.
Dinwiddie, who donned a white t-shirt just like the entire Coors Events Center crowd as part of a planned whiteout, was candid and honest with Pac-12 Networks’ Jill Savage when discussing the aftermath of his injury. He talked about how he’s noticed a more sensitive side from his teammates, who normally like to rag on each other like normal college kids do, as well as the support from his family and the Boulder community
“It hasn’t really hit me until just now, when I walked out and saw the crowd. You know now it is getting tough again,” Dinwiddie said.
He's also received a video message from NBA star Stephen Curry wishing him the best.
Before the injury, Dinwiddie was Colorado’s team leader in minutes, points, assists and steals, right in the middle of an impressive start to conference play that had many people thinking the Buffs had the pieces for a deep run into March.
Considering the leadership qualities an inactive Dinwiddie can still bring to the locker room, they still might.
