Oregon Athletics

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the week of Jan. 20-26. OREGON swept the weekly honors this week with sophomore forward Jillian Alleyne and freshman guard Chrishae Rowe claiming the Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors, respectively. Rowe nabs the weekly honor for a Conference-record tying fifth time this season, while Alleyne garners the award for the first time in her career.

Jillian Alleyne (Fontana, Calif.) and Chrishae Rowe (Corona, Calif.) helped Oregon to a pair of wins last week, snapping a six-game losing streak as the Ducks picked up their first Conference wins of the season with wins over Washington State (82-66) and Washington (101-85).

Alleyne averaged 27.5 points and 22.0 rebounds in the two wins. She had 19 boards on Friday versus Washington State and 25 on Sunday against Washington, just two rebounds shy of tying the Pac-12 record which she set last season. Ranked in the top-three in the country in double-doubles, she also had two more to up her season total to 17, including 15 straight. Alleyne had 19 points against the Cougs, then netted a season-high 34 in the win over the Huskies. Alleyne was 17-for-25 from the floor for a 68-percent shooting percentage and also went 21-for-25 from the free-throw line (.840).

Rowe averaged 20.5 points and seven rebounds per game in the wins last week over Washington State and Washington. Despite shooting troubles from long range, going just 1-for-16 over the two games, she had 24 points versus WSU, grabbing five rebounds, dishing out three assists and making three steals. In the win over UW, she had 17 points and eight rebounds, handing out three assists, as well.

It is Oregon’s 39th all-time player of the week recognition and first since Amanda Johnson won the award on Nov. 21, 2011. Alleyne was named the Conference’s Freshman of the Week four times last season.

A player of the week has been selected every week since 1986-87, the first year the Conference sponsored women’s sports. A freshman of the week was first selected in 2012-13.

Alleyne and Rowe will try to help the Ducks extend its two-game win streak when they Arizona on Friday, Jan. 31, then wrapping up the weekend at Arizona State on Sunday, Feb. 2.
