Color the Court Crimson Saturday Against UW

COUGARS HOST CROSS-STATE RIVAL HUSKIES: Washington State University men’s basketball (8-12, 1-7) hosts Washington (13-8, 5-3) for the first time this season, Saturday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum.
• Saturday’s game is ‘Color the Court Crimson’ as 1,500 fans will receive a free crimson shirt...fans are encouraged to wear their crimson to the game...the Cougars will wear crimson uniforms and the Huskies will wear gold uniforms.
• Saturday is also the College Basketball National Autism Awarness Day...Autism affects 1 in 88 children and is the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the United States...head coach Ken Bone will wear a blue puzzle piece lapel pin to show his support and to increase awareness.
• Sunday’s game can be seen on Pac-12 Networks as Kevin Calabro and Dan Dickau make the call.

AGAINST THE HUSKIES:
• Saturday marks the 278th all-time meeting between Washington State and Washington, with the Huskies leading the series, 177-100.
• Washington has won the last six games between the two teams and 10 of the last 12.
• WSU trails the series, 101-35 at Washington, 73-62 when hosting UW, 3-2 in neutral site games.
• The Cougars last defeated the Huskies, Feb. 27, 2011 at Seattle, an 80-69 win.
• WSU head coach Ken Bone is 2-11 against the Huskies as a head coach and 2-8 against UW as WSU’s head coach.
• The Huskies swept the season series in both 2011-12 and 2012-13.
• WSU’s comeback against the Huskies fell short in the first meeting last season, Jan. 5, 2013 at Beasley Coliseum, falling 68-63.
• Mike Ladd had a then-WSU-high 16 points.
• Will DiIorio made a career-high 3 3-pointers…he previously had made just one career 3-pointer in his 2 and a half year-WSU career…was 1-for-2 from 3-point in his career coming into the game, was 3-for-4 on Jan. 5.
• DiIorio finished with a career-high 9 points…his previous high of 7 points came against Sacramento State, Nov. 30, 2010.
• Brock Motum finished with 15 points, 11 of them in the second half.
• WSU couldn’t hold on for the victory, as it fell at Washington, 72-68, March 3, 2013 at Alaska Airlines Arena.
• Brock Motum and Royce Woolridge led WSU with 18 points each.
• DaVonté Lacy finished with 10 points while his 4 assists were his most since dishing out 4 at UCLA Feb. 9, 2013.
• D.J. Shelton scored 11 points…his most since scoring 13 against Arizona, Feb. 2, 2013.
• WSU shot .512 from the field (22-for-43), its highest field goal percentage since shooting .518 (29-for-56) against Utah Valley, Nov. 14, 2012.
• In the Pac-12 Tournament last year, the Huskies narrowly beat the Cougars, 64-62, March 13, 2013, at Las Vegas, Nev.
• Brock Motum led WSU with 28 points...he was 11-for-19 from the field and 5-for-8 from 3-point range.
• For the third-straight game Motum scored in double figures in the first half, he had 14 in the first half...scored double figures in the first half 10 times last season.
• D.J. Shelton scored a then-career-high 19 points.
• Mike Ladd led WSU with 6 rebounds.
• The team’s third-leading scorer, DaVonté Lacy, did not play due to a torn meniscus in his right knee.

ABOUT THE COUGARS:
• WSU played in its third Pac-12 game at Pullman this season, falling to Oregon, 71-44, Sunday.
• The Cougars are 8-12 overall and 1-7 in the Pac-12 and are 0-4 in conference games on the road and 0-5 in conference games away form Pullman (vs. Colorado in Spokane, Jan. 8).
• WSU is 6-5 in home games this season, 1-2 in Pac-12 games at Beasley Coliseum, 1-2 in neutral-site games, 1-4 on the road, 5-3 in home games played at Beasley Coliseum and 1-1 in home games played at neutral venues (at Toyota Center in Kennewick, Wash., Dec. 18 and Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash., Jan. 8).
• Junior DaVonté Lacy leads the team with 17.7 points per game.
• Lacy missed the Cougars’ games Dec. 28 against Mississippi Valley State and Jan. 2 at No. 1 Arizona with appendicitis, but returned for WSU’s game at Arizona State, Jan. 5, only to leave with a rib injury in the first half...he missed the team’s games against Colorado Jan. 8 , Utah Jan. 12, Stanford Jan. 15, California Jan. 18, Oregon State Jan. 22, and Oregon Jan. 26.
• Redshirt freshman Que Johnson has picked up some of the scoring with at least 14 points in seven of the last 10 games...he had a career-high 21 points against UTEP, Dec. 21 as well as Jan. 15 against Stanford...he leads the team in scoring in Pac-12 play with 13.5 ppg game in league contests, ranking 16th in Pac-12 only games.
• Senior D.J. Shelton leads the team and is fifth in the conference with 8.2 rebounds per game, while he’s third on the team in scoring with 8.7 points.
• He ranks eighth in Pac-12 only play with 8.1 rebounds per game in conference action.
• He ranks 86th in the country in rebounds per game and 70th in the country in total rebounds...he has grabbed 9 or more rebounds in eight of the last 11 games...he has five double-doubles on the season and is 3 total points away from having seven double-doubles.
• Shelton is tied for seventh in the Pac-12 and ranks 84th in the country with five double-doubles.
• Junior Royce Woolridge is fourth on the team with 8.6 points per game and leads the team with 3.2 assists per game after having his first career double-double with 11 assists Jan. 8 against Colorado...he ranks 15th in the league with 3.1 assists per game.
• Woolridge is sixth in the league with 4.0 assists per game in conference play only.
• After scoring a career-high 24 points against Colorado, Jan. 8, junior Dexter Kernich-Drew is third on the team in scoring in Pac-12 games with 7.6 ppg in 7 games (he missed WSU’s game at Arizona, Jan. 2 with a concussion).
• Kernich-Drew is averaging 6.7 points per game on the season.

LAST OUTING:
• Redshirt freshman Que Johnson led WSU in scoring for the sixth time with 9 points…he tied his career high and led WSU in rebounding for the first time with 5 boards.
• Freshman Josh Hawkinson had a career-high 6 points…his previous high was 5 points done against San Francisco state, Dec. 18…his previous Pac-12 high was 2 points, done 3 times.
• Hawkinson made a career-high 4 free throws on 6 attempts.
• Sophomore Brett Boese tied his career high with 6 points…he had a Pac-12 high for points and tied his career high with 2 3-pointers made, playing just 5 minutes.
• WSU did not have a player in double figures for the second time this season…the other time was at Arizona, Jan. 2.
• The Cougars had a season-low 9 first-half rebounds and finished with 24 boards, their second-lowest total of the season.
• WSU has dropped its last six games against Oregon and nine of the last 10 games in the series.
• WSU leading scorer Junior DaVonté Lacy did not play due to injury for the sixth-straight game.

LACY ON PACE FOR RECORD BOOKS:
• Junior guard DaVonté Lacy is on pace to become the 34th Cougar to reach 1,000 career points, and could do it in his junior season.
• With 789 points, Lacy needs 211 more points to reach 1,000 in his career, meaning if he plays at least 29 games, he’ll need to average 14.6 ppg over the season.
• Lacy is also climbing up the record books for 3-pointers made, currently in sole possession of ninth with 142 career 3-pointers.
• He is currently 10 away from Marcus Moore (2001-2004) in eighth place with 152.
• Lacy is ranked 16th in the WSU career record books with a .369 3-point field goal percentage.

NEW GUYS STEPPING UP:
• The Cougars have four newcomers on this season’s team; true freshmen Ike Iroegbu and Josh Hawkinson, redshirt freshman Que Johnson and redshirt junior and Iowa State-transfer, Jordan Railey.
• So far each of the newcomers has appeared in every game and the four have combined for 28 starts.
• The four newcomers are contributing a combined 21.4 points per game this season and have reached double figures 14 times.
• Iroegbu and Johnson have led the Cougars in scoring eight times combined, Iroegbu once and Johnson seven times.
• Johnson is the only Cougar aside from DaVonté Lacy to lead the team in scoring multiple times this season, having led the Cougars seven times.
• Johnson is second on the Pac-12 freshman scoring list with 13.5 points per game.

KEN BONE GETS 400TH CAREER WIN:
• With WSU’s win over Buffalo, Dec. 21, 2012, WSU head coach Ken Bone got his 400th career win as a head coach and now has 413 wins.
• He has 78 wins at WSU, had 77 in four years at Portland State, 253 victories in 12 seasons as head coach at Division II Seattle Pacific and 5 wins at Division III Cal State Stanislaus...he’s been a head coach for 21 seasons.
• Bone has 155 career wins in his ninth season as a Division I head coach.

COUGARS SIGN TWO:
• Head coach Ken Bone signed two student-athletes to NLIs during the early signing period, guard Tramaine Isabell and forward Jermaine Morgan.
• Tramaine Isabell (6-1, 170, G, Seattle, Wash./Garfield HS) spent his freshman through junior years at Lakeside High School and currently attends Garfield High School where he’ll play under head coach Ed Haskins.
• Jermaine Morgan (6-8, 215, F, Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young HS/ Moberly Area CC) currently attends Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Mo., after transferring from Odessa College in Texas following his freshman year.
