Anger Lands No. 7 Class For 2014-15 Season

SEATTLE - The University of Washington Men’s Tennis team now boasts the 7th best recruiting class for the 2014-15 season, according to Tennis Recruiting and Solfire. Earlier this fall, Husky Men’s Tennis Head Coach Matt Anger signed both Mitch Stewart and Jake Douglas to National Letters of Intent to play tennis at the University of Washington.

Stewart comes to the huskies from Federal Way, Washington. He is currently ranked third in America by the U.S. Tennis Association and is ranked fifth according to Tennisrecruiting.net. Stewart was a doubles champion at the 2013 Spring National Championships and is the reigning State 4A Champion (2012 and 2013). He finished third at the National Hard Court Championships in 2012 and was the 16-and-under champion at the National Clay Court Championships.

Douglas, who is attending Polas Verdes High school in Rolling Hills, California is a five-star rated incoming freshman and is currently ranked 43rd in the nation for the 2014 class. Douglas is also ranked ninth in the state of California, and attends the same high school that pro-tennis hall of famer Pete Sampras attended. Douglas also played high school tennis with current Husky Jeff Hawke.

The Huskies have three juniors on the current roster who are returning next season. With a roster filled with experience, the older Huskies will help build these new recruits into even better tennis players as the University of Washington Men’s Tennis team looks to compete for a national title.
