TEMPE, Ariz. – Junior Dani Gilmore went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBIs and a home run, as the Oregon State softball team defeated Appalachian State 12-2 in six innings Sunday morning in the final game of the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

The Beavers (3-3) jumped on top from the first at-bat, as Gilmore led off the game with her third home run of the season to give Oregon State an early lead.

The Beavers proceeded to break the game open in the third inning. Senior Hannah Bouska opened the frame with a double, and Gilmore drove her in with another two-bagger. Gilmore came home on an error, before Nishitomi tallied a third-straight Beaver double. Nishitomi would advance to third on an error, before sophomore Christie Langlois plated her with a sacrifice fly. Freshman Kylie Padilla drove in junior CJ Chirichigno to cap-off the inning for Oregon State, as the Beavers plated four in the frame to take a 5-0 lead.

Oregon State got it going again in the fourth, as freshman Kiki Pepi led off the inning with a walk. Bouska then reached on an error, before Nishitomi drove them both in with a double, and the Beavers stretched the cushion to seven.

The Mountaineers (0-6) answered back with a pair in the bottom of the fourth, but the Beavers responded with five in the sixth. The frame started with a walk and a pair of singles, before Langlois doubled in a pair of runs to extend her hitting streak to seven games. The Beavers proceeded to add two more runs on an error, as they took a commanding 12-2 lead. The Mountaineers did not score in the bottom of the frame, and Oregon State finished the game in six innings.
