Huskies Roll Past UC Santa Barbara, 7-0

SEATTLE – The University of Washington Women’s Tennis team easily handled UC Santa Barbara on Sunday coasting to a 7-0 victory at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The No. 41 Dawgs are now 5-1 on the season.

To start the day, the Dawgs swept the doubles matches with each pair only dropping two or less sets. Grace Ysidora and Natali Coronel set the tone for the match with a 6-0 defeat of UCSB’s April Scatliffe and Priscila Garcia. Elianne Douglas-Miron and Riko Shimizu followed that up with a 6-2 triumph over Paola Cos and Kaiulani Boyer wile Sophia Bott and Angela Chen easily defeated Stacy Yam and Luisa Ortiz Candido, 6-1.

Once the Dawgs moved into singles action, their dominate play continued with only one match going to three sets. Grace Ysidora, playing in the no. 1 spot picked up a 6-2, 7-6 victory followed by Riko Shimizu’s straight-set sweep of Stacy Yam 6-0, 6-0. Natali Allen handled Candido, 6-3, 6-1 while Natalie Coronel swept Melissa Baker, 6-2, 6-2.

Following Julija Lukac’s defeat of Paola Cos, 6-0, 6-1, Elianne Douglas-Miron was taken to three sets by April Scatliffe but came out victorious 6-7, 6-3, 10-6.

The Huskies stay in Seattle as they next host San Diego State on Friday, Feb. 14 at 1:30 p.m.
