Women's Basketball Hosts Two Great Events This Week

Feb 10, 2014

BOULDER - The University of Colorado Athletic Department is proud to announce two great women's basketball events, the Play4 Kay game and National Girls & Women In Sports Day celebration which will both take place this weekend during the Buffaloes' home series with the Washington schools.

On Friday, Feb. 14, Colorado hosts Washington at 6:30 p.m. at the Coors Events Center in its annual Pink Game to help in the fight against breast cancer. The Buffaloes will wear their white jerseys with pink trim and sport Play4Kay shooting shirts. This season Colorado has officially partnered with the Play4Kay organization, a leader in the women's basketball and breast cancer awareness community, to raise money. Fans and supporters can donate money online by visiting Play4Kay.org/CUBuffsWBB.

At the game Colorado will be handing out pink T-shirts to the first 1,000 fans in attendance and during halftime the Buffs will be honoring breast cancer survivors.  Breast cancer survivors can sign up to be a part of the recognition at CUBuffs.com/pink.

All fans can get discounted $5 general admission tickets by visiting CUBuffs.com/promo and using the code GÇÿPINK' or by wearing pink to the game and purchasing tickets at the door.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, Colorado hosts Washington State at 1 p.m. and will hold its annual celebration of National Girls & Women In Sports Day. CU is inviting all kids in 8th grade and under to be a part of the celebration and then watch the women's basketball game for FREE.

National Girls & Women In Sports Day was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1986 to honor female athletic achievement and recognize the importance of sports and fitness participation for all girls and women.

Prior to the game all kids (boys and girls) in 8th grade and under are invited to participate in skills and fitness stations run by CU female student-athletes and coaches. The skills and fitness stations will be held on the concourse starting at 11 a.m. followed by an autograph session with female student-athletes from 12-12:45 p.m.

All activities, including the women's basketball game are FREE for kids participating in the skills stations and accompanying adults.  To receive free general admission you must enter the Coors Events Center through the northwest entrance between 11 and 11:45 a.m.   After 11:45 a.m. fans can purchase tickets at regular prices at the Coors Events Center ticket window.
