WOODLAND, Calif. – After an outstanding performance in the University of Colorado lacrosse team’s inaugural opening weekend, Johnna Fusco has earned the first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the Week title of the season.

Fusco, a midfielder from Marietta, Ga., leads the Buffaloes with nine points off five goals and four assists. Fusco netted three goals and contributed three assists to help the Buffs to a 12-4 win at Stetson. In the final eight minutes of the first half, Fusco netted her first collegiate goals – first scoring off a free position shot and scoring again with 15 seconds remaining in the half to give CU a 6-0 lead at halftime. In the final four minutes of regulation, Fusco became the third Buff to join CU’s young hat trick club.

Against Jacksonville, Fusco once again stepped up for the Buffs with two goals and an assist. Her first goal was the Buffs’ first of the game and her first assist helped tie things up at 4-4.

This is Fusco’s first Rookie of the Week title and the first MPSF honor for Colorado.
