Alleyne Matches Smith’s Double-Doubles Record at WSU

PULLMAN, Wash. Jillian Alleyne tied Bev Smith for the UO single-season double-doubles record on Sunday against Washington State but the Ducks fell, 108-88, to the Cougars at Beasley Coliseum.
Alleyne posted her 24th double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds to match Smith’s single-season record. The sophomore previously broke both Smith’s Oregon and Nnemkadi Ogwumike’s Pac-12 single-season rebounds record of 376. Alleyne now has 423 rebounds this year with at least three games left to play.
The Ducks (13-14, 4-12 Pac-12) have lost five while the Cougars (15-13, 9-7) avenged a loss to Oregon earlier this year in Eugene. Oregon had won the four previous meetings against Washington State.  
Katelyn Loper had a team-high 22 points for the Ducks in addition to Alleyne 19 points and 13 boards. Ariel Thomas scored 15 points, including four three-pointers, while Chrishae Rowe added 13 points. Lexi Petersen had five points, five assists and eight rebounds.
Washington State’s dynamic backcourt of Lia Galdeira and Tia Presley combined to score 59 points in the game. Presley had a game-high 32 points on 13-of-17 shooting, with two three-pointers.  
Oregon made 21 turnovers in the game while Washington State had 14. The Ducks entered Sunday’s averaging a Pac-12 Conference-leading +3.08 turnover margin. Oregon has now allowed 100-plus points in three straight games.
The Cougars led by as much as six points in the first half, but the Ducks used a 13-3 run to take a four point led, 26-22, with 8:09 left in the first half.
The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the opening period before Washington State took a 45-43 lead into halftime.
After WSU’s Tia Presley hit a three-pointer to open the second half, the Ducks went on a 15-6 run to take a 58-53 lead with 15:53 left in the game. Loper had five of the Ducks’ points in the run.
It was tied up, 64-64, with 10:18 remaining when the Cougars went on an 11-1 run to go up, 75-65, with 8:09 left. Washington State pushed its lead up to 22 in the second half before winning by 20 points.
Oregon closes out the regular season next weekend with Arizona State on Friday night and Arizona on Sunday. Sunday’s game will be senior day for the Ducks.
