“We had a record day this morning and then weren't able to follow it up as well this afternoon,” Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. “However, I believe this was a preview of what this team can do when they commit to their plan and believe in themselves. We just need to continue to do the hard work of training and preparing to be in a those situations every day. Learning doesn't happen overnight and we definitely had a great lesson in perseverance today.
“I also believe that last week was helpful in that we were able to play a great golf course and actually got on some grass that was dry. This time next year we will have our new indoor center and weather won't affect our play as much during February and March. Hopefully the flooding at Trysting Tree will subside and we can begin preparation for UCLA. But, first things first. We are going to prepare for tomorrow.”
Sophomore Chelsea Saelee shot a career-best 2-under 70 in the morning and followed that with a 3-over 75 to put her in a tie for 24th with a 1-over 145. Her previous career best was a 1-under 71 at the Rose City Collegiate this past fall.
Senior Seshia Telles posted a pair of 1-over 73’s on Sunday and is tied for 31st with a 2-over 146, while junior Anica Yoo is tied for 45th with a 5-over 76-73--149 and freshman Krissy Peterson, who is making her debut with the team, is tied for 56th with a 6-over 72-78--150.
Oregon holds the clubhouse lead with a 23-under 553, six shots better than second place Ohio State, and the Buckeyes’ Jessica Porvasnik is the individual leader with a 12-under 65-67--132.
The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. PT (8:30 a.m. MT) with a shotgun start on Monday and the Beavers will be paired with Indiana and Wisconsin.
