Stanford

After signing with the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, Jason Collins made history as the first openly gay active NBA player as a result of his appearance in the Nets’ 108-102 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. His alma mater did some quality work on the court as well, as Stanford defeated then-No. 23 UCLA 83-74 to get to 9-5 in conference play.  You know what was tight about that game? Stanford’s three-man alley-oop. Also, Stanford women’s hoops won the Pac-12 regular-season crown after beating UCLA 65-56.

Arizona

“Most Impressive Win of the Weekend” award goes to Arizona, which destroyed Colorado 88-61 on its home court in front of a national audience. Kyle Ringo writes that Arizona’s romp in Boulder indicates that it has recovered from losing Brandon Ashley (I’ll say).

Oregon

Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports believes that Oregon was a bubble winner over the weekend for being able to sweep the Washington schools and take a three-game win streak on the road to Southern California. (He also considered Cal a winner and ASU a loser.)

Washington

Washington smothered Oregon State in Corvallis Saturday, and C.J. Wilcox moved to second place on UW’s all-time scoring list, surpassing the big fella Jon Brockman.

Utah

Nice bounce-back win for the Runnin’ Utes as Utah demolished Arizona State 86-63. Tony Jones thinks it’s the best performance of the season for the Huntsman Heroes.

Colorado

The Buffs are grateful for some rest after getting blown out at home by Arizona. They don’t play again until Saturday at Utah.

Arizona State

While the road wasn’t kind to the ASU men’s team, Charli Turner Thorne’s young women trounced Utah 60-40 in their last home game this season. Afterwards, Adrianne Thomas talked about the senior day victory with our Julie Rousseau.

Oregon State

As the great Kevin Zimmerman outlines, Brandin Cooks turned up the heat at the 2014 NFL combine Sunday, posting a 4.33 40 time to top all wide receivers. He also got $10,000 for his efforts from Adidas – the joys of turning pro, baby!

Washington State

Deone Bucannon spoke to media at the NFL combine Sunday, and here’s video evidence of it.

California

The banter around the new proposal to slow down offenses in college football took a turn for the worse when Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema brought up Ted Agu to support the proposal, and Cal AD Sandy Barbour blasted Bielema for referencing Agu’s death.

USC

How many people predicted USC baseball would still be undefeated after two weekends? Watch Cotto Lazada’s walk-off home run that gave the Trojans a 5-3 victory Sunday to beat North Dakota State in 12 innings. The Trojans were picked to finish ninth in the 11-team Pac by the conference’s coaches in the preseason.

UCLA

In softball news, No. 8 UCLA downed New Mexico 13-0 to finish off an undefeated weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.
