WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA sophomore infielder Mysha Sataraka and junior pitcher Ally Carda have been voted the Pac-12 Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for play from Feb. 17-23, the Conference office announced today.

Sataraka (Honolulu, Hawai’i) hit .500 with nine runs batted in at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic at Cathedral City, Calif., including a two-run, walk-off double against No. 16 Missouri, as the eighth-ranked Bruins recorded a perfect 5-0 mark to improve to 16-0 on the season. The third baseman had seven hits in 14 at-bats, scoring five runs and drawing four walks. She drew a walk in the Bruins’ lone match on Friday versus No. 13 Oklahoma. After slamming the walk-off double to give UCLA the 4-3 walk-off victory over Mizzou, Sataraka had a career-high five RBI against Maryland, going 3-for-3 and falling a triple shy of hitting the cycle. On Sunday, she recorded hits in both games, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored against No. 11 Nebraska and recording a single, a walk and two runs versus New Mexico.

Carda (Elk Grove, Calif.) went 4-0 in the circle for the Bruins, including three wins against ranked teams (No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 16 Missouri and No. 11 Nebraska). Carda had a 0.67 earned run average, struck out 27 batters in 21 innings, allowing only two earned runs, 15 hits and six walks in her four games. She opened the weekend with a 10-strikeout performance against Oklahoma, her third double-figure strikeout game of the year. The junior came in against Missouri in relief, striking out five in three shutout innings to pick up another win, then started the second game of the day versus Maryland, going five innings and striking out five batters. On Sunday versus Nebraska, Carda had seven K’s in six innings, allowing two earned runs, four hits and one walk. The two earned runs were the first allowed by Carda in 43 1/3 innings. She leads the Bruins’ pitching staff with a 9-0 record and 68 strikeouts with a 0.40 ERA.

It is the first-career weekly selection for both Sataraka and Carda. The two mark the 124th and 125th weekly accolade for UCLA all-time.

The undefeated Bruins head to Lakewood, Calif. to play in the Mayfair Invitational from Friday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, March 2. UCLA will open the tournament against a ranked opponent in No. 6 Michigan before facing Long Beach State on Friday. The Bruins will play Louisville and Northwestern on Saturday, then close out the tournament against Illinois on Sunday.
