WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA junior infielder Hallie Wilson and ARIZONA STATE senior pitcher Dallas Escobedo have been voted the Pac-12 Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for play from Mar. 4-10, the Conference office announced today.

Wilson (Santa Ana, Calif.) batted .650 (13-for-20) with seven extra-base hits on the week, helping Arizona to a 5-2 week. In her 20 at-bats, Wilson knocked three triples, including one in a 3-for-3 performance against Boise State in which she was a home run short of hitting the cycle. The junior slugged 1.150 on the weekend and drove in 10 runs after entering the week with 14 total runs batted in on the season. She also drew seven walks and was hit by a pitch on the weekend, helping post a .750 on-base percentage in 28 plate appearances. On the year, Wilson is third on the team with a .456 average, recording four doubles, three triples, three home runs and 24 RBI.

Escobedo (Glendale, Ariz.) went undefeated on the weekend, posting four victories to help ASU to a 7-0 record over the course of the week. With three shutout victories, she recorded an earned run average of 0.26 over the four games and held opposing batters to a .060 batting average, putting up 38 strikeouts with just one earned run and five hits. She opened the weekend with her fourth-career no-hitter, blanking Longwood with 13 strikeouts while walking three. Two days later, Escobedo led the No. 10 Sun Devils to a 2-0 win against No. 5 Michigan, holding the Wolverines to just one hit with nine strikeouts, the first of which was her 1,000th career strikeout, becoming just the second Sun Devil in ASU history to reach the mark and just the 14th in Pac-12 history. Against No. 16 Nebraska, the senior pitched eight full innings with 10 K’s and just one hit as ASU won over the Huskers, 1-0. Escobedo’s only earned run of the weekend came off a solo home run against Wisconsin, but she didn’t allow another run and struck six batters out as ASU run-ruled Wisconsin, 9-1, in five innings.

Wilson’s weekly honor is the first of her career. It marks the 139th all-time weekly selection for the Wildcats, which is the most of any Pac-12 softball team. Escobedo has now received Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week seven times over the course of her career, the third-most honors for an Arizona State player all-time behind former Sun Devils Kirsten Voak (eight) and Katie Burkhart (nine). It is the 81st selection for Arizona State all-time.

Both teams hit the road to open Pac-12 play this upcoming weekend. Arizona travels to Los Angeles to take on UCLA in a three-game series from March 15-17. Arizona State heads to Corvallis to face Oregon State in their respective three-game series from March 14-16.
