Houlihan, Milus Punch Tickets To Saturday?s Finals At NCAA Indoor

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The Arizona State track and field teams opened competition at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday with redshirt senior Ryan Milus and junior Shelby Houlihan qualifying for the finals in their respective events.

Milus took second in his heat of the 60m dash with a personal best time of 6.58, and will qualify for the indoor finals in the event for the first time in his career. Saturday’s final is set for 7 p.m. MT.

After leading for most of the opening heat of the women’s mile, Houlihan finished fourth overall at 4:43.50, which will qualify her for the finals for the first time in her career in this event. The women’s mile final is set for 6:10 p.m. MT on Saturday, and Houlihan will follow in a run in the finals of the 3,000m run at 7:55 p.m. MT.

Also for the Sun Devils, freshman Tatum Benard-Taylor ran 6.69 in the opening heat of the 60m, and will not run in Saturday’s finals.

Joining Milus and Houlihan in Saturday’s competition is redshirt senior Anna Jelmini, who will compete in the trials and finals of the women’s shot put at 6 p.m. MT.
