Buffs Host Jerry Quiller Classic

BOULDER - The University of Colorado track & field team will host the Jerry Quiller Classic, March 21-22, at Potts Field.

The meet will kick off the outdoor season for the Buffaloes who just wrapped up the indoor season with several athletes competing at the NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend.

Colorado will compete against several Front Range schools this weekend. Air Force, Colorado State, Metro State, UC-Colorado Springs and Wyoming will make up the majority of competitors with CU, but there will be several other athletes competing unattached or as a member of a club. The invitational is a non-team scoring meet.

The hammer throw and javelin will be contested on Friday; starting at 3 p.m. This year will also see the addition of a men's invitational 10,000-meter run, which will start at 6 p.m. on Friday.  Saturday's events will start at 11 a.m. and will wrap up around 3:45 p.m. A complete schedule is online at

The Jerry Quiller Classic is the first of two meets CU will host this spring. The Buffs will also host the CU Invitational April 11-12. Both meets take place at Potts Field on 30th and Colorado and admission is free.

The forecast for Friday is partly sunny with a high of 47 degrees and a 30 percent chance of precipitation. Saturday has a high of 42 degrees and a 60 percent chance of rain and snow (as of Thursday afternoon).
