Washington sweeps Pac-12 softball weekly honors

Apr 14, 2014

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - WASHINGTON swept the Pac-12 softball honors this week, as junior infielder Kylee Lahners was voted Pac-12 Softball Player of the Week and senior Kaitlin Inglesby was voted Pac-12 Softball Pitcher of the Week for play from April 7-13, the Conference office announced today.

Lahners (Laguna Hills, Calif.) hit 5-for-10 with two home runs and four runs batted in over three games at Stanford this weekend as the Huskies took two wins in the series. She recorded her first career multi-home run game on Saturday, simultaneously setting a new single-season career high for home runs with 12 on the year so far. The junior also recorded a double in the series opener on Thursday, going 2-for-5 as UW shut out the Cardinal, 7-0. In the 13-5 Husky loss on Friday, Lahners went 1-of-3 and scored one run. Her two home runs in two at-bats in the series finale on Saturday helped launch Washington to an 11-2 victory to clinch the series.

Inglesby (Portland, Ore.) posted a 2-0 record in two complete games and three total appearances this past weekend at Stanford. Over 12.2 total innings pitched, she recorded eight strikeouts and allowed only three earned runs for an ERA of 1.66 on the weekend. Inglesby tossed her 17th-career complete-game shutout in the series opener with a final score of 7-0, throwing seven strikeouts and allowing only four walks and four hits. At one point, Inglesby retired 11 of 12 straight batters in the 7-0 victory. On Saturday, the senior held the Cardinal to just one earned run on four hits in five innings, recording one strikeout in her five innings of work as UW earned a run-rule victory over the Cardinal with a final score of 11-2. She came in as relief in Friday’s game, giving up two earned runs on two hits with one walk in the appearance. Inglesby is now 8-3 on the season with an earned run average of 2.03.

It is the second-career honor for Lahners, who received her first on Feb. 18 of this season. Inglesby picks up her third-career weekly pitching honor, having earned the accolade once in 2011 and twice in 2012. The Huskies now have 88 total weekly awards all-time.

Washington returns home to Seattle to take on Arizona State in a three-game series beginning Thursday, April 17 at 4 p.m. PT. The second game will take place on Friday, April 18 at 4 p.m. PT, before the series finale on Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. PT. The first two games will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
