LOS ANGELES, CA -- The second-ranked UCLA women’s golf team travels to Corvallis, OR for the 26th Pac-12 Women’s Golf Championship, hosted by Oregon State at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

The Bruins, winners of three tournaments this season, are seeking their sixth overall conference title and first since 2006. Since winning their last conference championship seven years ago, the Bruins have recorded six podium finishes, including three runner-up results. Hall of Fame Head Coach Carrie Forsyth has guided UCLA to three Pac-10 titles (2004-06) and a total of 12 podium finishes in 14 previous seasons. (UCLA won its two other conference championships under Hall of Fame Coach Jackie Tobian-Steinmann in 1990 and ’91, and Forsyth was a member of those teams.)

“We’re very confident about our chances this weekend at the Pac-12 Championship,” said Forsyth. “Our players are focused and prepared, and they’re looking forward to competing after practicing for two weeks. This is the first major of our season, and we know that we are very capable of winning.  The Pac 12 Conference is the most competitive golf conference in the nation this year, and there is no doubt that it will be a tough battle, but one that will prepare us well for the NCAA Championship to come.”

All five players in Forsyth’s lineup this weekend are ranked among GolfStat’s Top 100. Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year candidate Alison Lee tops the rankings at No.1, averaging 70.7 per round. She has won a pair of tournaments this season and recorded five other Top 10 results in eight starts. In 24 rounds, she is 28-under par with 15 rounds under par and eight rounds below 70.

Junior All-America Erynne Lee is ranked eighth nationally with a scoring average of 71.6. She won the season-opening Mason Rudolph Championship and has recorded five other Top 10 finishes in nine starts. In 26 rounds this season, she is seven under par with nine rounds under 70.

Both Alison and Erynne Lee were named to the 2014 Curtis Cup Team earlier this year, and Alison Lee tied for 26th playing as an amateur in the Kraft Nabisco Championship in March.

Freshman Bronte Law, a 2012 member of the victorious Great Britain & Ireland Curtis Cup Team, is ranked 25th nationally. She is averaging 72.5 with a victory at the Pac-12 Preview in Hawaii in November.

Senior Ani Gulugian is ranked 66th and is averaging 73.1 in nine starts, a career best. She has eight rounds under par and has posted two rounds under 70.

Sophomore Louise Ridderstrom, a native of Stocksund, Sweden, has enjoyed a season of improvement. A year ago, she finished the season ranked 142nd, and enters the week ranked 45th with a scoring average of 73.2, more than two strokes better than last season. She also boasts 10 rounds under par, up from just one as a freshman.

The Trysting Tree Golf Club will play to a par of 72 over 6,256 yards. Eighteen holes will be played each day (Apr. 25-27), and the low four scores (out of five) will be counted in team scoring.
