T&F?s Throwers Wrap First Day Of Triton Invite

LA JOLLA, Calif.—The Arizona State track and field’s throwers wrapped up the first day of competition at UC San Diego’s Triton Invite on Friday at the UCSD Throwing Field.

Redshirt senior Anna Jelmini finished as the No. 2 collegiate competitor and eighth overall in the invitational section of the discus with a season best throw of 56.26m (184-07).

In the open section of the women’s discus, redshirt junior Alex Hartig took fourth with a season best throw of 52.44m (172-00), and sophomore Ginger Jarchow threw a personal best 45.99m (150-11) for 18th.

Junior Jessika Byrd led the Sun Devils in the women’s hammer, taking ninth with a throw of 57.86m (189-10), while redshirt freshman Ashley Weber took 20th with a throw of 52.33m (171-08). Also for ASU, Jarchow threw 47.07m (154-05).

Competition continues at the Triton Invite on Saturday, starting with the men’s hammer at 10 a.m. PT.
