Gilmore?s Streak Reaches 10, OSU Drops to Huskies

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Junior Dani Gilmore’s hitting streak reached double-digits Saturday afternoon, but the Oregon State softball team fell to No. 11 Washington 11-1 at OSU Softball Complex in Corvallis.

Gilmore finished the day 1-for-3 with an RBI. Her 10-game hitting streak is the longest by a Beaver this season, and the longest of her career. Kori Nishitomi finished the day 1-for-2 with a walk and a double.

Freshman Amee Aarhus went 1-for-2 with a run, while junior CJ Chirichigno also tallied a hit.

Oregon State (13-28, 3-15 Pac-12) looked like it might get on the board in the first, as Nishitomi led off the game with walk, before junior Ya Garcia was hit by a pitch. The Beavers lined into an inning-ending double-play, however, to finish the threat. Washington (27-12, 7-8) responded with four runs in the next two innings to take an early lead.

Oregon State got on the board in the third inning. Aarhus started things off with a bunt single, before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Gilmore then brought her home with a single up the middle. The Huskies would add seven more over the next two innings, though, to end the game in five.

The series will wrap up tomorrow with a game beginning at noon, as the Beavers celebrate senior day.
