Roundup: ASU headed to NCAA women's water polo tourney

Big ups to Arizona State women’s water polo for advancing to the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history. The Sun Devils are the No. 5 seed, while Cal is No. 4, USC is No. 3, UCLA is No. 2 and Stanford gets the top spot.

NCAA men’s volleyball play-in matches are Tuesday night, and No. 3 Stanford faces No. 6 Erskine at 4 p.m. PT in Chicago. If the Cardinal wins, it will appear in its first NCAA tournament since 2010, when the Card won the national title.

Ranked eighth in the nation, Arizona women’s golf earned an NCAA regional selection. The fourth-seeded Wildcats are in the Central Regional and will be joined there by fellow Pac-12ers No. 1 UCLA, No. 12 Cal and No. 17 Colorado. Overall, nine Pac-12 women’s golf teams are headed to NCAA regionals.

While we’re hitting the links, USC’s women’s golf team is staying the course academically. The Women of Troy are the top seed in the West Regional.

Arizona State and Cal sure were fun to track last season, and now season two of The Drive will focus on the 2014 UCLA Bruins football program. The 15 30-minute episodes will begin in early September.
