Saturday’s Game Rained Out, Doubleheader Slated Sunday
SEATTLE – Saturday’s game between the No. 11 Huskies and No. 9 Wildcats has been postponed. A doubleheader is slated for Sunday, with the first game starting at 9:30 a.m. and the second game starting at 12:00 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
Fans with tickets for Saturday’s game can bring their tickets to Husky Softball Stadium for admission to the 9:30 a.m. game only.
Senior Day festivities will still take place following the conclusion of game two. Fan Fest activities, however, have been cancelled due to expected inclement weather.
Despite non-stop rain, the Huskies honored Danielle Lawrie on Saturday night at Husky Softball Stadium by retiring her No. 15 jersey, making her the first player in Washington Softball history to have her jersey retired.
Head coach Heather Tarr presented Lawrie with a plaque commemorating her achievements as a Husky. Throughout her four years at Washington, Lawrie totaled 136 wins, 1,860 strikeouts, 149 complete games, 65 shutouts, and six no-hitters, each of which are all-time career highs at Washington. Lawrie was a two-time Honda Award winner, a two-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, and a three-time 1st-team All-American. In 2009, Lawrie led the Huskies to the National Championship and was named the Women’s College World Series MVP.
Lawrie was accompanied by her parents, Russ and Cheryl Lawrie, her husband, Andrew Locke, and their daughter, Madison.
