Roundup: Football Championship Game coming to Levi's Stadium

May 15, 2014

The Pac-12 has announced a deal to host the Football Championship Game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara for the next three years. I can’t wait to step inside this stadium.

Former Arizona Wildcat guard and five-time NBA champion Steve Kerr will become head coach of the Golden State Warriors. Per Adrian Wojnarowski, the deal is for five years and $25 million. Get paid, baby.

Nice get for Sonny Dykes and crew – former Wake Forest defensive lineman James Looney is transferring to Cal. College Football Talk says that Wake Forest’s transfer loss is Cal’s line gain.

Washington has reinstated quarterback Cyler Miles, while receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow will transfer. Both guys were previously suspended.

CBS Sports is reporting that Texas is “backing away” from former USC quarterback Max Wittek. It has been widely assumed that Wittek would transfer to Texas, though nothing has ever been official.

Oregon president Michael Gottfredson maintains that the investigation into the basketball players was handled properly.

Because apparently it’s never too early to come out with a watch list for the upcoming college football season, Stanford defensive backs Jordan Richards and Wayne Lyons were nominated for the Lott IMPACT Trophy. In all, 42 have been nominated, including a lot of guys from the Pac-12.

Can’t fault the UCLA men’s basketball team for testing itself in the 2014-15 non-conference slate because the Bruins will play Gonzaga and Kentucky next season, in addition to heading off to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis (Butler, Florida, North Carolina, Georgetown, Oklahoma, UAB and Wisconsin). UCLA just announced that they’ll be playing Gonzaga Dec. 13 at Pauley Pavilion.

It’s time to take a look at Arizona State football’s future non-conference opponents. Michigan State, Texas A&M and LSU are all on the docket in the coming years.

Kyle Bonagura of ESPN thinks that wide receiver Bryce Bobo was Colorado’s spring breakout player. He’ll get some serious looks with Paul Richardson off to the Seahawks.

Hard to nit-pick a team that is No. 2 in the country, but Oregon State baseball hopes to stop needing late emergencies.

Ya know, the word is getting out about the improving Utah men’s basketball team. Writers from around the nation are taking notice of what’s going on in the SLC.

Let’s put the Cougar spotlight on Emily Starkel because I said so. She is a graduating rower in Pullman.
