Trojans Do Battle In NCAA Singles, With Doubles Up Tomorrow

May 21, 2014

After making USC history in winning the university's 100th NCAA Championship the previous night, Trojans Yannick Hanfmann and Ray Sarmientocame up short in their individual bids today in the NCAA Singles Round of 64. The two national champs will, however, pair back up tomorrow (May 22) as the top-seeded team in the NCAA Doubles Championships, which kicks off Round of 32 competition tomorrow in Athens, Ga. Junior Jonny Wang, who was not in the lineup for NCAA team competition, won his NCAA Singles first-round matchup to move on in the singles draw while his teammates take up competition in doubles play.
