HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- The UCLA men’s golf team waited two days to complete the first round of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship at Prairie Dunes, and the Bruins will wait another 24 hours to start the second round.

While the first wave of teams began the second round of the championship at 3 p.m CDT on Saturday, the second wave – of which the Bruins were members – will start round two at 7 a.m. Sunday.

In round one, the Bruins posted a score of 279 (-1) and were tied for ninth place. First place belonged to South Carolina at eight-under par 282. The Gamecocks are also part of the second wave and will have to wait until Sunday to begin the second round.

Individually for UCLA, senior Anton Arboleda led the lineup with a first-round score of 68 (-2) in a round that included two bogeys and four birdies. Sophomores Jonathan Garrick and Lorens Chan each posted scores of even par 70. Junior Preston Valder recorded a score of 71 (+1). Junior Matt Pinizzotto had the drop score of 76 (+6).

South Carolina’s Will Starke was the first round leader at 64 (-6).
