Men?s 4x100 Relay Concludes Season at NCAA?s on Wednesday

EUGENE, Ore. – The California Golden Bears track & field team opened their competition at the NCAA Championships at historic Hayward Field on Wednesday afternoon, as the men’s 4x100-meter relay team was the only event that had Golden Bear competitors in it on day one. The team comprised of redshirt junior Dan Davis, redshirt seniors Tom BlockerDash Oliver and freshman Khalfani Muhammad posted a time of 40.17, which placed them eighth in their heat and 22nd overall.

The team had equaled their season-best time of 39.91 to seize the 12th and final qualification spot in Fayetteville, Ark. two weeks ago at the West Prelims to earn their way to Eugene. Their mark of 39.91 was also set earlier this season in the prelims at the Pac-12 Championships in Pullman, Wash., and it is the best time that Cal has produced since 1987, ranking seventh on Cal’s All-Time Performers List.

Cal will have six more student-athletes in action over the course of the next three days; junior Kelsey Santisteban (5000-meters and 10000-meters), senior Milan Ristic (110-meter hurdles), redshirt senior Hammed Suleman (long jump), redshirt sophomore Jonte Grant (triple jump), redshirt senior Derek White (discus) and sophomore Thomas Joyce (1500-meters).
