Alison Lee Falls 1-up at U.S. Women’s Amateur Quarterfinals

LOS ANGELES, CA. -- UCLA sophomore Alison Lee fell 1-up to Brooke Mackenzie Henderson Friday at the 114th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, NY.

Down two with two holes to play, Lee birdied the 17th hole to cut Henderson’s lead to one. On the previous hole, she missed a short par putt to give her opponent a 2-up lead. Both players made par at the 18th, and the 16-year old Henderson advanced to Saturday’s semifinals.

Earlier Lee had rallied from a one-hole deficit to square the match with a par at the fifth hole. Henderson answered with a par at the sixth to regain the lead as Lee bogeyed.

At the 12th, Henderson took a 2-up lead with another steady par. But Lee responded with a par at the 13th to cut the lead again to one.
