Solid article from Dan Wetzel on the decision from the Ed O’Bannon v. NCAA trial and what it means going forward. Former Washington defensive end Josh Shirley is transferring to UNLV. As this Yahoo! Sports article notes, Shirley graduated from Washington and, as such, can play immediately for the Rebels.

Cal football linebacker Jason Gibson has retired from football for medical reasons, reports Jeff Faraudo of the Bay Area News Group. He has been plagued by injuries over the course of his collegiate career.
