Fall Camp, Day #10: Picture Day

Aug 14, 2014

The Ice Bucket Challenge continued to wind its way across the Tommy Prothro Football Complex as offensive coordinator John Garrett was doused with assistance from wide receivers coach Brent Brennan and quarterback Sean Mannion following practice Thursday.

The big news out of Corvallis on Thursday was that the Beavers will travel to Columbus to take on The Ohio State Buckeyes to open the season Sept. 1, 2018. It will be the third time the Beavers have played at “The Horseshoe.” The Beavers will continue the search for a third non-conference game for the 2018 campaign to go with a previously announced date at Nevada the third week of the season.

Also announced today, Mannion was named to the Manning Award Watch List adding to his already lengthy list of awards for which he is a candidate. The award which honors the accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances in the balloting.

The players were greeted at training table with the reality of picture day. Some were dismayed that they hadn’t shave “in a year and a half” or it wasn’t a good hair day. But Jabral Johnson was eager to get his new snapshot saying that “this is perfection” referring to his image.

Beaver fans, it looks like a special year. Have you purchased your tickets?

DATRIN GUYTON, WR, 6-5, 182, Manor, Texas (Manor HS)

What was High School football like in Texas?

“It was pretty much like playing in a college football atmosphere. Most Texas High School football games were like a D2 or junior college football game.”

What city in the world would you like to visit?

“Miami, because I've never been there.”

If you didn’t play football, what sport would you play?

“Basketball, I played it up until my senior year.”

Who on the football team would you like to trade places with for a day and why?

Sean Mannion, because he knows the whole offense.”

What are fans going to see from you on the football field?

“Excitement and getting pumped up. Even if I'm not starting I'm going to pump my team up.”

What convinced you to choose Oregon State?

“It is a family atmosphere. I grew up with Storm Woods so I knew that Storm would teach me the routes. This team just feels more like a family rather than a team to me.”

CONNOR KELSEY, LS, 5-11, 211, Carpinteria, Calif. (Carpinteria HS)

Where in the world would you like to visit?

“Fiji so I could go get some waves.”
