Roundup: Ty Montgomery to play vs. UC Davis

Good news for Nerd Nation: Stanford wide receiver Ty Montgomery will play in the season opener Saturday against UC Davis. He underwent surgery on his right shoulder in February and hurt his knee in the Rose Bowl against Michigan State.

USC

During the Pac-12 coaches teleconference Tuesday, Steve Sarkisian said he is vetting the story of USC cornerback Josh Shaw. As Kevin Zimmerman notes, Sarkisian said, “Josh has never given us any indication not to believe his story.”

UCLA

Kevin Gemmell thinks America has perhaps hyped up UCLA linebacker/running back Myles Jack too much, leading to the catchy headline, “Are we too jacked up for Myles Jack?” Not that he doesn’t deserve the love, Gemmell writes, but that people are going to expect superhuman numbers from him this year on both sides of the ball.
