Aug 28, 2014

ORLANDO, Fla. – Coming off a 14th-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Championships, the Oregon men’s golf team was ranked 25th in the preseason Golf Coaches Association of America poll as announced Thursday afternoon.

The Ducks earned 98 points in the poll. In 2013, Oregon finished in the top 10 in all regular season tournaments. The 14th-place finish at the NCAA Championship was the third-best finish by the Ducks under head coach Casey Martin. Oregon posted the second-best round at the NCAA Championship (-9) and the best final-round score.

Oregon returns all 10 golfers from last season and welcomes two freshmen. The Ducks will be led by senior Jonathan Woo, who finished second at the NCAA Eugene Regionals. Sophomore Thomas Lin led the team in scoring average (71.86) and won the Oregon State Amateur in the offseason.

Alabama and Oklahoma State tied for No. 1 in the GCAA poll with 516 points. The Pac-12 is also represented by Stanford (7), Washington (8), UCLA (10), California (14), USC (24), Arizona State (RV) and Colorado (RV).

The Ducks start the fall 2014 schedule Sept. 22-23 in Bremerton, Wash., at the Husky Invitational.
