Volleyball Sweeps Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. -- Senior Chelsey Bettinson had a career-high 16 kills and hit .583 to lead the Washington State volleyball team to a 26-24, 25-11, 25-16, win over host Montana at the Montana Invitational in Missoula, Mont., Saturday afternoon.

Washington State moves to 1-1 on the year while Montana fell to a 0-2 record. At one point in the second set the Cougars scored 10 consecutive points on the way to the 25-11 victory. WSU hit .302 for the match and held the Grizzlies to a .159 hitting percentage.

In addition to her 16 kills, Bettinson had one ace and a match-high six blocks. Shawna Lum tallied a career-high five service aces. Jaicee Harris added 11 kills and Kate Sommer led the match with 11 digs. Haley MacDonald had 39 assists.

Montana’s Tess Hellerud and Claire McCown each had seven kills while Jace Henderson and Raegan Lindsey combined for 26 assists. Taylor Schile led the Griz with eight digs.
