Beavers Fall to Knights

Sep 14, 2014

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Oregon State women’s soccer team fell to UCF 4-0 Sunday morning in Orlando, Fla.

“It was a tough loss to a very good UCF side,” said head coach Linus Rhode. “I think they will go far this season. Our team can take away a lot from this game to build on for the future.”

The Knights (5-2-0) got on the board early, when Tatiana Coleman found the net in the 13th minute. UCF followed that up with a goal from Amanda Wilkin in the 20th minute.

The Beavers (0-6-2) came close to pulling one back in the 34th minute, when they earned a free kick at the top of the box. Sophomore Sabrina Santarossa fired a shot towards the target, but the ball sailed just over the crossbar.

Wilkin scored her second of the game in the 50th minute, before Ashley Spivey closed out the scoring in the 68th minute.

Junior Gwen Bieck played the full 90 minutes for the Beavers, while sophomore Kathryn Baker was on the field for 85 minutes.

Oregon State will return to action Friday, when it host Portland at Paul Lorenz Field.
