Cats Head to Rice Fall Invitational

Sep 18, 2014

TUCSON, Ariz. - The fall season is officially underway for the University of Arizona men’s tennis team, with six tournaments listed on the season’s schedule. The Wildcats hit the road this weekend for the Rice Fall Invitational beginning Friday, Sept.19, in Houston, Texas.

The Rice Invitational will be played at the university’s new tennis stadium, the George R. Brown Tennis Complex, located directly on campus. The complex opened late this summer, and will be hosting most of its visitors for the first time this weekend.

The Wildcats are continuously sharpening their skills and physical conditioning. Arizona head coach Tad Berkowitz sees the Rice Invitational as “a good measuring stick to see where we are” coming out of the offseason.

“This tournament is a great opportunity for the guys to get out and compete early in our fall season,” said Berkowitz. “The Rice Invitational is a good measuring stick to see where we are with our fitness, and to see what exactly we need to work on individually, as the fall season progresses.”
