Stanford's McNealy Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Month

SAN FRANCISCO – Maverick McNealy of STANFORD has been named the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Month for September, the Pac-12 announced today.

The sophomore from Portola Valley, Calif., led the Cardinal with a pair of medalist honors at the Southwestern Intercollegiate (Sept. 8-9) and the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational (Sept. 12-14).

McNealy posted a 10-under 203 (66-72-65) for his first career win to lead Stanford to its first win of the season at the Southwestern Intercollegiate. He followed up with another win, firing a consistent 3-over 213 (71-71-71) in leading the Cardinal to a fourth-place team finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. A Cardinal has now earned medalist honors at the Fighting Illini Invitational four consecutive years (McNealy 2014, Cameron Wilson 2013, Patrick Rodgers 2012 and 2011).

McNealy becomes the ninth straight Cardinal medalist in as many events dating back to last season.

Stanford, currently ranked No. 10 by Golfweek, returns to action Oct. 6-7 at the Swoosh Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.

Also nominated for golfer of the month honors were Jon Rahm, Jr., ARIZONA STATE; Cameron Shaw, So., CALIFORNIA; David Oraee, Sr., COLORADO; Alex Franklin, Sr., OREGON STATE; Jake Knapp, Jr., UCLA; Rico Hoey, So., USC; Jonathan Sanders, Jr., WASHINGTON; Sang Lee, Sr., WASHINGTON STATE.
