Washington Softball Announces 2015 Schedule

Oct 3, 2014

SEATTLE - Washington head softball coach Heather Tarr has announced the 2015 schedule, featuring 17 home contests as well as a tournament hosted at Husky Softball Stadium. Last season, the Huskies made their 10th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament under the leadership of Tarr and will look to continue that success this season, which welcomes nine newcomers to the team.

The Huskies play 10 teams that made it to the NCAA Tournament last season, which means 18 games will come against opponents who appeared in last year's Tournament.

"Our 2015 schedule has us competing in 56 contests, which is the most we have been able to schedule in several seasons,” Tarr said. “Playing on the road for four weekends in a row battle tests us for what's to come in the Pac-12 conference. We are excited to bring the Husky Classic to Seattle once again for our fans in Seattle."

UW opens its schedule with a road trip to Las Vegas for the Kick-Off Classic on Feb. 6-8, featuring a game against Minnesota who reached the NCAA super regionals last season and were named Big Ten Tournament Champions. The Huskies will also play NCAA Regional participant Louisville on Feb. 8.

Washington heads a little further south to Tempe, Ariz. for the Littlewood Classic on Feb. 13-15, as well as a single game against Grand Canyon on Feb. 16. The Huskies are set to play Oklahoma in Tempe, who placed sixth in the Women’s College World Series last season and finished with an overall record of 51-13.

The Huskies then travel to Honolulu, Hawaii on Feb. 20-22 for games against Central Florida, UTEP and host Hawaii before heading to Stockton, Calif. on Feb. 27 for two contests at the Libby Matson Tournament. UW will also play in the Santa Clara Invitational on Feb. 28-March 1.

Following their five opening road tournaments, Washington hosts a tournament of their own on March 6-8. The Husky Classic welcomes Ohio State, Miami University, Cal State Northridge and Seattle University to Husky Softball Stadium in Seattle.

The squad will play eight Pac-12 series, four of which will come against teams that appeared in the postseason last year. The Huskies finished fourth in Pac-12 play last season with a record of 13-9.

"The Pac-12 conference schedule has us playing at some of the same campuses as last year, which will allow our team to have a chance to play in some familiar places,” Tarr said. “We are happy that our fans will have 17 opportunities to watch us play at home in 2015"

Washington opens Pac-12 play in Seattle with a three-game series against Arizona State, March 13-15, followed by a midweek game at home against Texas Tech.

UCLA comes to town on March 21-23 before the Huskies hop on I-5 for a single game against Portland State on March 25. UW then travels to Eugene for a three-game series against Oregon on March 27-29.

Stanford comes to town on April 2-4, before the Huskies head to Tucson to play the Wildcats April 10-12.

Washington travels to Berkeley for a three-game series against Cal on April 24-26, before returning home to wrap up its home slate with a three-game stand against Oregon State May 1-3.

UW concludes its regular season with a three-game series in Salt Lake City against Utah May 7-9.
