No. 18 Stanford Up Next For No. 5 UW

Oct 4, 2014

SEATTLE -- The Dawgs got the conference season off to a good start, beating No. 13 California on Thursday night, 3-2. The task gets no easier on Sunday as another ranked opponent comes to Husky Soccer Field in the form of No. 18 Stanford for a 5 p.m. kick. The game will also be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks with J.B. Long and Chris Sullivan on the call.

The Cardinal are also off to a 1-0 Pac-12 start, defeating Oregon State, 1-0. Stanford (7-1-0) has won seven-straight after a season opening loss to Creighton. The Dawgs are on a winning streak of their own with six-straight victories to push their record to 8-1-0. Sunday's winner will determine the early leader in the Pac-12 standings.

The Dawgs have traditionally experienced a lot of success against the Cardinal. Washington is 32-15-4 against Stanford, including winning the last nine meetings and an 11-game unbeaten streak. Head coach Jamie Clark played his college ball at Stanford where he was a two-time All-American and led the Cardinal to the 1998 NCAA Final. As a coach, Clark has experienced great success against his former school with a 7-0-0 record for the Huskies.

The game will also be a rematch of last year's NCAA Sweet 16 match that the Dawgs won, 1-0. Ian Lange nodded in a late goal to move the Huskies onto their first-ever Elite 8.

Washington will be featured in a four-episode original series created by Levy Films beginning October 16 after the Dawgs play UCLA on the Pac-12 Networks. Check out the Dawgs three goals versus Cal as shot by Levy Films in preparation for the series. To see the full trailer of the show click HERE.
