Orange Tops Black in Swimming Exhibition
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Orange team defeated the Black team 119-105, as the Oregon State swim team hosted its annual Orange and Black meet Saturday morning at Stevens Natatorium.
Junior Sammy Harrison led the way with three first place finishes. She opened the day with a win in the 200 freestyle, before proceeding to take the top spot in the 100 freestyle and the 500 freestyle.
Junior Amani Amr, and sophomores Czsarina Isleta and Brooke Meyer each finished with a pair of first place finishes. Amr led the way in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke, while Isleta took first in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. Meyer paced the squad in the 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly.
Sophomore Sophie MacEwan finished first in the 50 freestyle, while classmate Andrea Young took the top spot in the 200 IM.
Senior Dakota Bloch and sophomore Jesikah Cavanaugh each finished the meet with a pair of second-place finishes. Bloch’s came in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle, while Cavanaugh finished runner-up in the 200 butterfly and the 100 butterfly.
The Black team’s relay squad of Amr, freshman Allie Kilroy, junior Constance Toulemonde and Young won the 200 medley relay, while the Orange team of Bloch, freshman Corrine Shigeta, sophomore Anni Hecker and Harrison placed first in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Beavers will open their 2014-15 season on Friday, when they host Seattle U and Liberty at the Osborn Aquatic Center.
