Beyond The Team Sheet: Haley Silverberg

Oct 7, 2014

Haley Silveberg, a sophomore from Katy, Texas, has played in all 11 matches for the Wildcats this season as a midfielder. She has recorded 13 shots as well, the sixth-highest total on the team.

Q: First question, Haley, what is it about Coach Amato that made you want to play for him?
A: I really like the passion that he had for the game, and his genuine interest in his players, and kind of his sense of humor had a lot to do with it, too. I really liked his combination of coaching with him and Paul. At first at Stephen F. Austin, I liked how Kylie used to play there, and I really was upset that I wasn’t going to get to play with her, and it turns out she was coaching here so kind of all three of them combined, that was it.

Q: Who is your favorite person to room with?
A: Well, we switch it around every time but I think this year it would probably be Amanda Burke, because we both like the room to be freezing cold and we wake up in the morning really early, so it’s kind of working out there.

Q: Is there a special meaning behind the number you chose?
A: Not really, my favorite number is seven so the only thing I can say is that one plus six is seven, so I was kind of glad it worked out that way, that’s about it.

Q: What is your favorite uniform combination to wear and why?
A: Definitely red, because it’s my favorite color.

Q: How do you guys choose what uniforms you wear? How does that work?
A: Usually it depends on whether it’s a home game or something, and it also depends on what the keepers are going to wear, for the other team and ours, but mostly the coaches are just like, “Here!” So, I’m just glad we’ve worn red a lot this year.
