The Arizona gymnastics team has been training hard the last few weeks and are looking forward to their first meet at Alabama on Jan. 9, 2015. Though they are hard training athletes there is more to them than just the strength, agility, and leotard. This week get to know junior Shelby Edwards…
Q: What’s your favorite event to compete?
A: Beam is my favorite event. It’s so nerve racking but when you hit a really good routine it’s so rewarding. Going from being so nervous to feeling on top of the world is such an awesome feeling.
Q: What’s one of your best memories while at U of A?
A: My freshman year at regionals is probably one of my favorite memories. Everyone was so in it together and we were so loud. Overall, it was just an amazing environment to be in and that made it so fun to compete.
Q: What do you hope to do after college?
A: My dream career is to be a music journalist, I want to write for a music magazine.
Q: If you weren’t doing gymnastics what sport would you want to play?
A: I probably wouldn’t play any other sport because I’m not very coordinated.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I like to go to concerts a lot! I saw Paramore and Fall Out Boy this summer and One Direction a few weeks ago!
Q: What’s a random fact about you?
A: I’ve never learned how to swim.
