Women's Golf Slips in Second Round
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Washington State University women’s golf team fell from second to eighth place in the second round of the NM State Aggie Invitational at the New Mexico State University Golf Course. The Cougars carded a 302 (+14), bringing their two-round score to 592 (+16). WSU is six strokes back from a tie for sixth place with BYU and Portland State (+10, 586).
“Today wasn’t our best day, but the tournament isn’t over,” Cougar Head Coach Kelli Kamimura said. “We have one round left and are ready to have a great final round tomorrow.”
Senior Lindsay Harmon and freshman Alivia Brown led the Cougars in the second round, shooting 3-over (75). The pair is currently tied for 25th at 4-over (148). Senior Kristen Rue, tied for 22nd, is WSU’s top individual performer through 36 holes. After a second round 76 (+4), Rue is 3-over (147).
Juniors Nani Yanagi and Rachel Lewis are currently tied for 38th. Yanagi shot 4-over (76) in the second round, while Lewis finished 5-over (77), bringing the duo’s two-round total to 150 (+6).
The NM State Aggie Invitational concludes Wednesday with the final round of play. Teams will tee off in a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. Mountain/7:30 a.m. Pacific.
