Huskies Return Home to Host Sun Devils
SEATTLE – UW women’s soccer will take on visiting Arizona State Friday Oct. 10 at Husky Soccer Field in its first game in Seattle after five straight road games.
The Huskies (8-4-0, 1-2-0) won three of five road games, picking up wins at Seattle University on Sept. 19, at Portland on Sept. 28 and most recently at California on Oct. 5. The two losses came at the hands of Oregon and Stanford.
“It’ll be nice to be able to play in front of our fans,” senior captain Chelsea Archer said. “We got better as a team. Everyone’s really focused on the game at hand tomorrow, just going back to that 1-0 mentality. Every game is important.”
Jaclyn Softli has seven goals on the season to lead the Huskies. She scored the game-winner in the 87th minute against Cal in UW’s last outing, at Cal on Oct. 5. Freshman Kimby Keever has five goals and two assists and senior Kate Bennett has four goals and three assists.
UW’s defense is held down by Allyson Brahs and Stine Schoening, both of whom have started every game for the Huskies. Junior goalkeeper Megan Kufeld has played every minute for the Dawgs this season.
The Sun Devils (8-1-3) have gone unbeaten over their last nine games, winning seven and tying two. Their high-scoring offense is powered by Cali Farquharson and her 10 goals. Aly Moon has eight goals on the season to go with four assists.
UW and ASU have faced each other 17 times, with the Huskies holding a record of 8-5-4 against the Sun Devils. Most recently, the teams played to a scoreless in Tempe, Ariz., last season.
