Cal Hosts Alister MacKenzie Invitational Monday-Tuesday
CAL HOSTS ALISTER MACKENZIE INVITATIONAL
Cal (No. 12 GCAA, No. 19 Golfweek/Sagarin) will host its lone tournament of the season when the Golden Bears welcome a 16-team to the 2014 Alister MacKenzie Invitational. After being played for one season at Sonoma Golf Club in 2013, the event will return to the par-71, 6,734-yard Meadow Club where it was played in each of its first 10 editions from 2002-07 and again from 2009-12. The teams will play 36 holes of the 54-hole stroke-play event Monday before finishing with 18 holes Tuesday. Each team will field five players with the top four scores from each round counting towards the team’s total. A shotgun start is scheduled to begin Monday’s action at 8:15 a.m. PT, while teams will tee off from the first and 10th holes Tuesday beginning at 7:45 a.m. Cal starting times. Tee times and pairings for the third and final round on the second day of the event will be determined following Monday’s first 36 holes of action.

► New Lineup in 2014-15 – Cal’s lineup for the 2014 Alister MacKenzie Invitational includes two freshmen (Sebastian Crampton and KK Limbhasut), two sophomores (Walker Huddy and Cameron Shaw) and one junior (Keelan Kilpatrick). Coming into the 2014-15 season the group had played a combined 18 events and 55 rounds of golf at Cal. None of the five were in Cal’s lineup when the Golden Bears tied for 11th at the 2014 NCAA Championships with four seniors and current junior Shotaro Ban in the lineup.
► Five-Team Defending Alister MacKenzie Invitational Champions – Cal has won at least a share of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational the Golden Bears have hosted each of the past five seasons and have won or shared the team title at event eight times in its 11 previous editions.

► Amazingly Successful Run Since 2011-12 – Cal has been victorious in 25 of its last 43 stroke-play tournaments overall dating back to the beginning of the 2011-12 campaign. The Bears have finished in the top five in 41 of those 43 events as well as another four additional match-play events during the period for 45 top-five showings in their last 47 tournaments overall.
► Shaw and Crampton Off To Strong Starts, Kilpatrick and Limbhasut Also Post Top-Five Finishes – Cameron Shaw and Sebastian Crampton are off to strong starts for the Golden Bears. Shaw shared individual medalist honors for his first collegiate win at his most recent event at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate after tying for second in his previous outing at the Windon Memorial Classic. Crampton has a pair of top-10 finishes in his first two collegiate starts, tying for fourth at the Windon Memorial Classic and tying for seventh at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate. Keelan Kilpatrick and KK Limbhasut have also posted top-five finishes that are the best of their career with Kilpatrick tying for third at the season-opening Gopher Invitational and Limbhasut tying for fourth along with Crampton at the Windon Memorial Classic.
