Women's Swim Begins Pac-12 Slate at WSU

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona women’s swim team will head to Pullman, Wash. this weekend to take on Washington State in a dual meet at Gibb Pool on Fri. Oct. 17at 5:00 p.m. PDT for their first Pac-12 meet of the season.

Arizona is coming off a 180-101 win over the Wisconsin Badgers. The team of Bonnie Brandon, Emma Schoettmer, Katja Hajdinjak and Taylor Schick won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.63. Brandon also won the 100 back with 55.77 and the 200 back (1:58.86).

Tjasa Oder won the 1000 free with a time of 10:03.71 and also took first in the 500 free finishing with 4:54.90. Schoettmer added to the win for the Wildcats as she won the 100 back in 1:01.91, and later on won the 200 breast in 2:13.47. Schick took the top spot in the 200 free (1:48.22).

Elizabeth Pepper finished first in the 200 fly (1:59.13) while also taking first in the 100 fly with a time of 55.13.To close out the day, Arizona took home first place in the 400 free relay as the team of Bonnie, Schick, Kremer and McHugh touched in 3:22.24 to win by four tenths of a second.

This will be Washington State’s first meet of the season. Last season, they finished 3-6 in dual meets and finished eighth in the Pac-12 Championships. The last meet between Arizona and Washington led to a Wildcat 121-76 victory. Arizona won all eleven events, with Margo Greer and Ashley Evans each contributing two first-place finishes.
