Plaza Selected for Tryout

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford softball’s Jessica Plaza was one of 32 athletes invited to the 2015 USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp, as announced by the Amateur Softball Association of America and USA Softball.

The camp will be held Jan. 4-8 in Irvine, Calif., to determine the 17-player roster that will compete in July 2015 at the World Cup of Softball X and the 15-player roster that travels to the Pan American Games.

Plaza spent the past year as a member of the Team USA Women’s National Team and competed in multiple tournaments, including the International Softball Federation Women’s World Championships in Haarlem, Netherlands.

While competing with the U.S. Junior National Team in 2013, Plaza earned a silver medal at the International Softball Federation Junior Women’s World Championship.

Plaza belted six home runs, hit .283 with six doubles, 25 RBI and held a .496 slugging percentage with Stanford in 2014. She held a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage behind the plate.
