Killion, a midfielder from Fort Wayne, Ind., is one of UCLA's top student-athletes, majoring in Psychology and holding a GPA of 3.7. She is also set to graduate early in Fall 2014. Killion is a first-team NSCAA Scholar All-American and Scholar All-West Region honoree, a Capital One Academic All-District second-team recipient and a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection.
Killion, who is in her second year as team co-captain, is known as one of the most technically-skilled, consistent and intelligent players in the game. Her teammates have described her as having a "strong moral compass", and her coach Amanda Cromwell says, "Sarah has a passion for the game unlike any player I have ever coached. Her skill and vision reflect her calmness and the grace of a true master of her craft."
This season, Killion ranks second on the UCLA team in scoring with 20 points off five goals and a Pac-12-leading 10 assists. She currently ranks seventh in the nation in assists per game (0.67) and is on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. In 2013, she led the Pac-12 in assists with 12, the third-highest total in UCLA history. She currently ranks third on the school's career list with 30. Killion earned a call-up to the full U.S. Women's National Team for the Algarve Cup in March and is also a regular with the U.S. Under-23 National Team.
Killion's community service activities include a youth soccer clinic and fundraiser for Soccer Without Borders, packaging meals for the needy with Feeding Children Everywhere, and speaking with elementary and middle school students about the importance of staying in school.
A winner at every level, Killion was an all-tournament selection at the 2013 NCAA College Cup after leading the Bruins to their first-ever national championship. Additionally, she led the LA Blues to two straight USL W-League titles in 2013 and 2014 and the U.S. Under-20 National Team to the 2012 FIFA World Cup championship.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School® , the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
