STANFORD, Calif. – One week after five Cardinal rowers kicked off the 2014-15 season, the rest of the team will get its first racing of the year at the Head of the American in Gold River, Calif. on Saturday.
Following a ninth place finish at the Head of the Charles, Stanford has now been training for just over a month. The majority of the team members will have their first opportunity to go head-to-head in several different events.
Events that Stanford has entered boats in include, the open 4+, open 1x, open 2-, open 8+ and open 2x. There are scheduled to be 11 different boats racing in those five events with four singles and two each in the 4+, 2- and 8+ races.
Last year at the Head of the American, the Cardinal came away with victories in the novice eight and open 4+ event.
This weekend’s regatta will close out the fall racing season for Stanford. The spring season will begin March 1 at the Davis Invitational in Sacramento.
