NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Senior Laura Oldham and junior Inge Hendrikx combined to go a perfect 3-0 on the opening day of the Matador Invitational, Friday out at the Matador Tennis Complex.
Oldham and Hendrikx opened up tournament play with a convincing 8-4 doubles victory over UC San Diego’s tandem of Britta Mosser and Kyra Scott to advance to the quarterfinals of the doubles black bracket.
Arizona’s day one dominance continued into singles play, as top-seeded Hendrikx dismantled UCSD’s Mosser 6-2, 6-0 in the pink bracket, while Oldham cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Cal Poly’s Abby Bacharach in the black bracket. Oldham also represents the top seed in her field.
Hendrikx and Oldham will be back in action tomorrow at 9 a.m. as they’ll begin the day with quarterfinal doubles action before playing their respective second round singles matches shortly after.
