Grauer Invited to 2015 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team Camp

OKLAHOMA CITY - Freshman Johanna Grauer has been invited to the 2015 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team Selection Camp, which will be held Jan. 3-4, 2015 at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball has announced.
Grauer is one of 22 who has received an invitation and will vie for 17 spots on the 2015 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team roster. Team USA will compete at the World Cup of Softball X in July 2015 in Southern California and the International Softball Federation (ISF) Junior Women's World Championship, which will be held August 9-15 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Additional athletes may be invited to the USA Softball JWNT Selection Camp at a later date while additional opportunities for athletes to try out for the 2015 JWNT will be announced on November 3 via USASoftball.com. During the selection process, athletes will participate in position drills as well as simulated games and be evaluated by the Women's National Team Selection Committee.
The JWNT is led by former Olympian and Bruin alum Tairia (Mims) Flowers.
Grauer is a part of the Bruins' top recruiting class, according to StudentSports.com. She was named 2014 Ms. Softball State Player of the Year by CalHiSports.com. Grauer was 27-0 in the circle during her senior season and led Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, Calif. to a CIF North Coast Section Division I Championship.
Earning State Sophomore of the Year honors in 2012 and State Junior of the Year accolades in '13, Grauer posted a 0.51 earned run average in her 27 victories, striking out 290 in 191 1/3 innings. She tossed three no-hitters and walked only 27, allowing an opposing batting average of .097. At the plate, she hit .429 with 39 hits and 20 runs batted in.
A total of 24 Bruins have played on the USA Junior Women's National Team, including most recently three who are members of the 2014-2015 UCLA squad. Senior Ally Carda took part in the Junior Women's World Championship in 2011, while juniors Paige McDuffee and Mysha Sataraka played at the 2013 Junior World's.
