UCLA Rowing Has Strong Showing at Head of the American

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - The UCLA women’s rowing team’s varsity eight raced to a first-place finish at the Head of the American on Saturday, defeating Pac-12 competitors Washington, Stanford and California, among others.

The Bruins raced four varsity eights in Saturday’s competition. UCLA’s top varsity eight crew posted a final time of 17:10.0, eclipsing Stanford’s top boat (17:19.0). Washington’s ‘A’ crew and California’s ‘B’ crew finished third and fourth, respectively.

In all, UCLA's four varsity eights finished in the top 13 of 25 total crews.

The Bruins will return to action, concluding their fall season at the Head of the Marina on Saturday, Nov. 1. UCLA is scheduled to open its spring rowing season against San Diego State on Saturday, March 7, in Marina del Rey.
