THIS WEEK: For the fourth time this season, the Washington State University men’s golf team will travel to California. The Cougars will wrap up their fall season at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif., Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Stockton Golf and Country Club.
THE COURSE: Participants will play 54 holes at the par-71, 6,484-yard Stockton Golf and Country Club…teams will play 18 holes each day beginning Thursday, Oct. 30 at 8:30 a.m. off holes 1 and 10…tournament continues Friday with the second round…tournament concludes Saturday with the final round of play.
THE FIELD: Joining host school Pacific in the 11-team field will be BYU, CSU Bakersfield, Denver, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Nevada, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, and Washington State.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougar men will be senior Michael Anderson, freshman Derek Bayley, redshirt-senior Sang Lee, freshman Brian Mogg, and senior Charlie Mroz…also traveling, to compete as an individual, will be redshirt-senior Alex Wagner.
COACH CLEGG SAYS: “We’ve had a great week at home and some good practices. The scores this week should be low. We are going to have to attack the whole time. We’re looking forward to getting out there and competing.”
COACHING STAFF: Washington State is led by Head Coach Garrett Clegg in his fourth season as the mentor for the Cougars…a native of Bountiful, Utah, Clegg was an assistant coach at Washington for four seasons prior to his arrival at WSU…the Cougars are assisted by WSU alumnus Dustin White in his second season…White competed for the Cougars from 1999-2003.
